faq that nobody asks, but am puttin' it here
what do you do?
am a senior ml engineer at Ampcome. mostly build llm stuff - think agents, rag pipelines, and whatever else involves makin' ai do things it probably shouldn't.
where are you from?
born and brought up in kerala, india. yes the place with the backwaters, coconut trees, and movies better than most of hollywood.
what languages do you speak?
malayalam (native), english, and python. in that order of fluency.
how did you get into tech?
honestly don't remember a single "aha" moment. got into tech right after schooling, just kept buildin' stuff and somehow ended up here. no degree, just a lot of googlin'.
what's your tech stack?
started with python and it stuck, but am not fixated on it. these days i use whatever gets the job done. i love takin' research papers and turnin' 'em into somethin' that actually works in production. often end up deep in library internals or buildin' orchestration systems. the nerdy low-level stuff is where the fun is.
why does your website look like this?
it's inspired by motherfuckingwebsite.com. no css frameworks, no javascript frameworks, just raw html like god intended. it loads faster than your blink.
what tools do you use daily?
vscode, claude, chatgpt, google, obsidian, slack, whatsapp, terminal, and github. that's basically it. nothin' fancy.
what gadgets do you use?
iphone 17, airpods pro, macbook air m4, lenovo loq with rtx 4060, benq monitor, realme wired headset, and an iqoo as my android phone. yes i carry two phones. no am not a drug dealer.
what are you into these days?
am in my explorin' phase right now. not fixated on just tech - tryin' out skatin', waveboarding, kayakin', wanna learn guitar, martial arts, rock climbin', calisthenics, archery, all sorts of stuff. basically sayin' yes to everything and seein' what sticks.
how did you get a job without a degree?
tech needs skills, not a degree. i built stuff, showed it, and got hired. that's it. am doin' a distance degree now mostly for immigration and all that bureaucratic nonsense.
but you missed college life, right?
right, i missed the amazin' time. but am okay with that.
how social are you?
introvert for the most part. but i don't have any shame askin' for somethin' i need - i'll talk if required, it's not like i don't talk to anyone. am just way too comfortable on my own. livin' alone right now and honestly vibin' with it.
do you have any roadmap i can follow?
i don't trust roadmaps in general. what i do is search "roadmap to become x" (whatever i wanna be) and read the top 10 results in detail. that gives you a better picture than any single roadmap ever will.
any career advice?
just try different things and if somethin' works, go ahead. i didn't find any shortcuts yet.
